eGrove is the University of Mississippi’s institutional repository. The repository is regularly backed up, and content is stored in a secure environment that provides data integrity checks, protection against system failure, and redundant copies.
Some older file formats may lose functionality as technology evolves. Because of this, UM Libraries cannot guarantee the permanent preservation of all items and encourages contributors to save copies of their own work.
Proprietary files are at a greater risk of obsolescence as formats evolve and programs discontinue. eGrove does not migrate files to supported/new formats and cannot guarantee the continuing accessibility of formats not recommended in the File Formats section. When possible, save your files as recommended or open source formats and regularly check your proprietary files to ensure continued accessibility.
