Call Numbers for Ceramics

Many Ceramics books will be found in the N classifications (don't forget the oversize section, too). You will also find ceramics books in the following areas:

TT919-924 : Books relating to arts and crafts (pottery and surface techniques)
TA430: Books relating to mechanics of materials (glazes, ceramics in engeneering)

Call Numbers for Graphic Design

Many Graphic Design books will be found in the N classifications (specifically the NC section relating to drawing, design, and illustration). You will also find Graphic Design books in the following areas:

P93's: Books relating to philology: visual communication
Z200's: Books relating to history of printing and typology

Library of Congress call numbers for the Fine Arts are Class N (located on the second floor)

  • NA: Architecture

  • ND: Painting
  • NE: Print Media
    • Printmaking, engraving, serigraphy, lithography, monotype
  • NK: Decorative Arts, Ceramics (see below)
    • Arts and crafts movement, religious art, interior decoration, furniture, textiles
  • NX: Arts in General, Art Theory, History of the Arts

Oversize Books It is not uncommon for art books to be large. Oversize books will be noted in the catalog and are located on the second floor. Occasionally, oversize books are housed in our offsite storage facility and, once requested, are usually delivered to the Main Library within 24-48 hours.
