Getting started

Does the vendor offer a trial? Trials are a great first step. Submit a SysAid request with as much information as you already have, and Kristin will set it up. It can take several days to a couple weeks to get the trial started. Kristin will announce when it is available.

Technical questions

Our preferred technical set up:

  • Uses IP recognition for authentication
  • Allows use of a proxy server
  • Allows unlimited simultaneous users
  • Allows OpenURL protocols in and out

We can work around any of these requirements, but it is more confusing for the user when there are exceptions. We will make public notes about any exceptions.

Pricing

Vendors may determine pricing based on a variety of factors:

  • FTE of the University or of a specific department
  • Different agreements or offers through consortia
  • Tenacious negotiating

We try different methods for getting the best price, and we are happy to work with the subject specialists to find the right price. Please send Kristin any pricing contact and information you already have.
