We want to know which brands of energy drinks U.S. adults drink by the following generations: Gen Z, Millennials, GenXers, and Boomers.
1. Selecting brands or products via the Dictionary
In the Dictionary, scroll down and click on Beverages, scroll down and click on Energy Drinks, next click on Brand.
In the Dictionary search box, type in energy drink and hit enter. Next expand Beverages, you'll then see Energy Drinks and can select Brand.
2. Moving answers/brands to Rows.
Select the brands of Energy Drinks you are interested in and decide what label information you'd like to show in the Crosstab. Once you select the brands, click on the Label dropdown selector, it will show View: Full Labels by default. For this example, we will select only the Question and Answer to show in the Crosstab. Once you'd made your selections, click apply.
Now drag your brands from the Dictionary box to the Selection box and click on Select All at the top of the Selection box.
At the bottom of the Selection box you will see the options to add to Bases, Rows, or Columns. We will add our brand to the Rows.
Once the brands are moved to the Rows box you will see the sample of respondents in the study, and the weighted sample, which is an extrapolated number that represents how many people in the U.S. would have answered like this and that number is given in thousands.
3. Selecting demographics/psychographic variables and move to Columns.
Go back to the Dictionary box and select Demographics. You will see many options, for this example, we will click on Respondent and then Generations. Follow the process as in Step 2, select the Generations you want, choose your label options, hit apply, and then drag them into the Selection box.
Next click Select All and move your demographics to the Columns box. Once the demographics are moved to the Columns box you will see the sample of respondents in the study, and the weighted sample, which is an extrapolated number that represents how many people in the U.S. would have answered like this and that number is given in thousands.
4.Getting results by generating the Crosstab.
It's time to run the report. Click on the blue Run Report button at the bottom right of the screen.
5. Saving and exporting the Crosstab.
On the top left, you can click on Untitled, name your Crosstab, and then click on Save.
To export your Crosstab (It is highly recommended that you export each Crosstab that you run), click on the ... in the top right of the screen, click on Export, and then choose your preferred export option.
6. Reading the Crosstab.
*A single asterisk * in your Crosstab results means the projections are relatively unstable and should be used with caution.
**Two asterisks ** in your Crosstab mean the projections are from thirty or fewer interviews. These results are not sufficiently reliable to be safely used alone.
7. To create a new Crosstab.
To create a new Crosstab, click on Composer in the top left of screen.
