The Daily Compilation of Presidential Documents are the official publications of materials released by the White House Press Secretary. The Compilation of Presidential Documents is published by the Office of the Federal Register (OFR), National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
Replaced in 2009 by the Daily Compilation of Presidential Documents. The weekly's are available in print from August 1965-October 2000 (AE 2.109: Federal Documents stacks 1st floor) and online from 1992-present.
Each Public Papers volume contains the papers and speeches of the President of the United States that were issued by the Office of the Press Secretary during the specified time period. The material is presented in chronological order, and the dates shown in the headings are the dates of the documents or events. Available in print from 1929-2017 (AE 2.114: Federal Documents stacks-1st Floor) and online from 1929-2017 via GovInfo.
Key roles of the executive branch
President – The President leads the country. He/she is the head of state, leader of the federal government, and Commander in Chief of the United States Armed Forces. The President serves a four-year term and can be elected no more than two times.
Vice President – The Vice President supports the President. If the President is unable to serve, the Vice President becomes President. The Vice President can be elected and serve an unlimited number of four-year terms as Vice President, even under a different president.
The Cabinet – Cabinet members serve as advisors to the President. They include the Vice President and the heads of executive departments. Cabinet members are nominated by the President and must be approved by the Senate (with at least 51 votes).
