SciFinder-n: Home

A research discovery tool that allows you to explore literature from CAS databases covering a range of scientific disciplines.

Introduction to SciFinder-N

SciFinder-n is a research discovery tool that accesses the Chemical Abstract Service (CAS) databases. These databases contain literature from many scientific disciplines, including biomedical sciences, chemistry, engineering, materials science, agricultural science, and more. Individual SciFinder accounts are required.

If you are new to SciFinder, follow the instructions listed in the "Creating An Account" tab below.

Getting Started

Click Here to Create an Account

To create an account, you will need to:

  • Agree to the Licensing Agreement
  • Fill out the profile information
  • Create a username & password

Once the account is created, an email will be sent to the associated account for verification. After this, SciFinder-n can be accessed.

Why do I need to make an account?

Access to SciFinder-n requires a user to log in with their institution's credentials and then with a unique login for SciFinder-n. This provides additional security. When you select Create an Account or any time you want to access SciFinder-n, you must log in with your University of Mississippi ID first.

Note: Classic accounts can use the same credentials to access SciFinder-n.

Visiting Scholars

Access to the Library’s electronic resources is governed by the license agreements that we enter into with each vendor. These licenses require that the Library diligently limit access to current employed faculty and staff. Prior to authorizing access for visiting scholars we need to confirm the dates of your visiting appointment. Your department chair will need to fill out the form below to request access.

Occasionally, the error message "Not Authorized from this IP address" will occur when trying to access SciFinder-n.

If this happens, try logging on using the link from the Libraries website: https://olemiss.edu/cgi-bin/library/scifinderwb.pl

If you’re working from home, make sure your VPN is working correctly.
