SR-Accelerator is a freely available systematic review software provided by Bond University's Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare in Australia.
The components of the SR-Accelerator can be used independently or collectively, depending on the research team's needs and processes.
One of the best features of the SR Accelerator is the Methods Wizard that guides researchers in identifying, organizing, and allocating tasks. The Methods Wizard also provides write-up templates for each task based on the authors' selected input (e.g., "Two review authors (SW, SK) independently assessed the risk of bias for each study using the Cochrane Risk of Bias 2 tool.")
The Word Frequency tool is used to identify common words and phrases from a group of articles. Researchers will need to upload a collection of articles, typically from a citation management system.
The SearchRefinery tool is useful for researchers who use PubMed. This tool visualizes the relationship between PubMed IDs and affiliated PubMed searches.
The Polyglot Search Translator assists researchers in transferring search strings from one database to another. Researchers should be aware that, according to SR Accelerator, "the Polyglot does not automatically map subject terms across databases (e.g. MeSH terms to Emtree terms). It is recommended that people have a basic understanding of how each database works, before using the Polyglot."
The Deduplicator identifies duplicate records according to four levels -- extremely likely duplicates, highly likely duplicates, likely duplicates, and non-duplicates. Researchers then decide what to do with the duplicates.
The Screenatron allows team members to independently evaluate each article and classify for inclusion or exclusion. After team members have independently screened the collection of articles, the Disputatron tool is used to resolve any conflicts.
The Disputatron tool is used to resolve conflicts between two independent screeners.
SpiderCite is a tool that allows researchers to upload a collection of articles and then track the citations backward and forward in time. This is similar to reviewing articles' references and using the Google Scholar "Cited by" feature.
The RevMan (ReviewManager) software is used for writing Cochrane Reviews. SR-Accelerator's RevMan Replicant can be used to build a manuscript if researchers have a RevMan file.
