Note:  The following photographs are stored off-site in a Cold Room and require two-days advance notice before use in order to acclimate the images to room temperature and transfer them for viewing in the Archives & Special Collections Reading Room.

Roane Fleming Byrnes Collection.  Includes photographs of the 1927 Mississippi River flood around Natchez, Mississippi.

Illinois Central Railroad Album of the 1927 Mississippi River Flood.  The Illinois Central Railroad hired a photographer to travel the length of the Mississippi River from Cairo, Illinois to Louisiana to capture the damage caused by the flood.  Although most images are of railroad depots and the rails, the photographs also depict refugees and livestock on levees as well as flooding in the communities along the river.
