Finding a book in the Library

Finding a book in the Library

Step 1: Go to libraries.olemiss.edu.

Start your search by going to the search bar. One Search is the default search.

Step 2: In the One Search box, type in your search terms and click search.

We are searching for books about Barry Hannah, so enter Barry Hannah in the search bar.

Step 3: The results page.

Once on the results page, look to the left column under the Content Type box and select Book/eBook to narrow the results to only books.

Step 4: To find a print version of a book, click on the call number beside the entry that says Book.

To access an ebook, simply click on the Full Text Online link beside the eBook entry. If you are not on campus, you will have to login with your WebID and password to access the eBook.

Step 5: Catalog record of the print book

On the right side of the page, look for the gray Additional Resources box. In this box, you will see Main Location and a floor. This tells you the location of your book within the library. Click on the listed floor for a map of the library. Remember, you will need the entire call number (ex. PS3558.A476 Z46 2016) to find the book.

If the status of the book shows a date, that means the book is currently checked out and is unavailable.

Step 6: Locating the book

On the floor map, find the listed floor. From there you can see where each call number range is located on each floor. For this example, the book is located on the second floor.
