Roundabout Oxford episodes can be found here. Students are encouraged to register for this event: https://calendar.lib.olemiss.edu/calendar/events/podcastworkshop

A Collection of Artifacts and Stories of the Ole Miss Riot

Ongoing Museum Exhibit

10 a.m. – 4 p.m.Tuesday through Saturday

The University of Mississippi Museum
On October 1, 1962, the University of Mississippi was officially integrated with the admission of its first African American student James Meredith. The images, personal accounts, and artifacts in this exhibit exemplify the infamous and deadly Ole Miss Riot, a final segregationist opposition to Meredith’s year-long battle for admission.

Week of Commemoration

Dates: Monday, September 26 - Friday, September 30

With his admission, James Meredith became one of the heroic figures of the American civil rights movement, succeeding against every legal, political and bureaucratic obstacle that blocked his path. His persistence opened the door for thousands, setting an example for every student of what even one individual can accomplish. Your Pass It On! deed can be any act of kindness no matter how small. It can be something as simple as running an errand for a busy family member or friend, tipping your server double, complimenting someone or just thanking a stranger for a job well done. It’s up to you to decide how you want to bring about positivity and change in our community. For every Pass It On! act you document, you will be entered to win monthly prizes and experiences. There’s no limit to the number of entries you can earn. So, let’s get out there and Pass It On!
